- 38% of messaging pertaining to feelings and attitudes is in the manner in which the words are spoken.
- 55% of messaging pertaining to feelings and attitudes is in the facial expression.
Loosely applying these numbers to your job search, landing a phone screen may get you to 45% in a best-case scenario. An in-person interview can get you to 100%, but your chances of landing that interview are only around 2-3%.

Regardless of the job title, some kind of screening interview is virtually guaranteed before a hiring decision. In fact, many video interviews happen asynchronously.

The new normal: an interview doesn’t have to be “live” or “in-person” to be informative or useful.
